Traveling to West Palm for the holidays.

Expect to find that the holiday spirit is in full swing.  We went out the other Saturday night, after dinner at home, we headed for Clematis Street and City Place in West Palm, to find some entertainment and holiday atmosphere.  Seemed like everyone was downtown, traffic was congested and people were everywhere.  We parked near Publix and made the short walk to City Place.

City Place center square was jammed packed with people– young and old, kids and babies in strollers, parents and grandparents in camp chairs.  They had just lit the big Christmas tree, square center, at 6pm.  Huge illuminated 12 ft. diameter snow flakes hung above the street and on the center building (new this year).  Fifth Avenue Band was playing on the open stage, easy rock as well as Christmas carols.  The mayor, Lois Frankel, was mingling in the crowd.  A sign hung from Brewzzi’s bar balcony announcing, “Snow every night from Nov. 15 till Dec. 31″ and sure enough it started snowing– swirling, blowing snow from atop the bandstand and high in the palm trees, the snow machines were cranking out the soap bubbly variety for 20 min.  But in the dark and spot lit trees it looked like the real thing.  It was so much fun.  Our kids would have loved it.  We’ll go again.

West Palm Beach Fl, is filled with holiday activities from Clematis Street and City Place with their festiv decor, restaurants, outdoor shopping areas, water fountains and outdoor music venues.
