Palm Beach, Florida

Palm Beach is a refined, upscale resort community located on a barrier island in southeast Florida.  Palm Beach was established by Henry Flagler and incorporated in 1911.  The history and character of this island is evident upon arrival with its tropical landscaping and historic architecture.  It is not uncommon to drive by twenty to thirty foot manicured ficus hedges fortifying the properties of the well secluded, wealthier private residents.  This can make for some treacherous bicycling throughout the residential areas, but there is a great bike path on the inter-coastal waterway.   The public beach is active year round, and is a short walk from a day of upscale shopping on Worth Ave.  Palm Beach is host to a select variety of fine restaurants and a few late night venues for the more energetic socialites.   Leaving the island, a short drive across the inter-coastal bridge you arrive in the city of West Palm Beach with more nightlife and shopping at the cities Clematis Street and City Place.  Off the island, entertainment varies from the nightclubs and rock-n-roll bars and concert venues to the more sophisticated opera, symphony, and Broadway shows at the Kravis center.
